Sanjeet Ruhal
Dr. Sanjeet Ruhal is The Nippon Foundation Lecturer on International Maritime Security Law at the IMO International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI), Malta, where he teaches public international law and the law of the sea, and coordinates the Institute’s flagship Course on International Maritime Security Law. He also serves as Coordinator of the Research Degree (M.Jur. and Ph.D.) Programme.
A specialist in maritime security and the law of the sea, he holds a Ph.D. in International Maritime Security Law from the University of Delhi. Before joining IMLI in 2018, he taught at top law schools in India and held the Ministry of Earth Sciences Fellowship for the Law of the Sea at Gujarat National Law University. He lectures at prestigious academic and defence institutions and international organisations. He is a member of the Indian Society of International Law and the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses. He regularly appears on television and in newspapers as an expert on maritime security and related issues.
He has published widely on maritime security, criminal jurisdiction at sea, unmanned maritime vehicles, deep seabed mining, and related questions of the law of the sea.
